Biography
Born in Essers (Tunisia) on 23/11/1970, Ahmed Ouerfelli graduated from the Faculty of law and Political Sciences of Tunis in 1993 majoring in business law. Mr. Ouerfelli optained a master degree in private law from the same university in 1995.
Mr. Ouerfelli has served as judge in the Court of First Instance of Ariana (1995-1997) then in the Court of Appeal of Tunis (the First President’s circuit).
In 2000, he was appointed as research judge in the Center of Legal and Judicial Studies, a governmental entity working under the supervision of the ministry of justice. Mr. Ahmed's researches focused mainly on the different branchesof business law.
Between 15 March 2011 and 15 February 2015, Mr. Ahmed Ouerfelli served as the Legal advisor in chief to three Presidents of the Republic of Tunisia.
During this period, he officially resigned from his position as a judge, then resigned from his position as a legal advisor in chief to the President of Tunisia in February 2015 to practice as a lawyer.
During his time as a judge, Mr. Ahmed served as an arbitrator and a mediator in several commercial and investment disputes. He was also a counsel for the Tunisian government in two ICSID arbitrations.
Mr. Ouerfelli has also been appointed by the Tunisian National Committee for Sport Arbitration (CNAS)as an arbitrator in several sport law cases. He was also the Chair of the National League of Professional Football (2012).
Mr. Ahmed is also a visiting scholar teaching civil law, tax law, arbitration law and international trade law at Tunisian Law schools and high Institutes.
He is also the author of three books on the Tunisian arbitration law (domestic and international) and other books on company law and tax law.
Mr. Ahmed Ouerfelli has also published more than 100 articles in different fields, mainly arbitration law, in more than 13 countries, in Arabic, English and French.
